Hey all.

My show opens on Saturday.
It's called SadGrrl_13.
It's awesome.

Workhaus Collective presents
SADGRRL_13
A new play by Cory Hinkle
Directed by Jeremy Wilhelm
June 14 - June 28

As Dick Jones works out of his basement to save America's children from
online predators, a journalist fed up with sensational news reporting goes
undercover to expose Dick's true desires. A collision of Jacobean drama,
contemporary visual art, and transcripts from internet chat rooms, SADGRRL13
is a dangerous tale of average Americans who believe that revenge is the
same as justice.

For more info and a complete performance schedule,* go to
http://www.workhauscollective.org

* The show runs Thurs - Sun June 14-June 28th
There's a "gala" night on Thurs 6/19 ($50/2 tix)
Pay-What-You-Can on Mon 6/23
Post-show discussion Thurs 6/26
Tickets $8 - $15

CAST:
Zoe Benston
Nick Crandall
Garry Geiken
Ed Jones
Clarence Wethern
Amanda Whisner

We're previewing on Friday and it's a pay what you can. you all should come.

It's at the Playwrights' Center. Ok, maybe not happier, but it seems as thought I found a lot more joy in every day things. I giggled at the silliness of call to the museum a lot more often. I wrote on lj about fun things, rather than only writing to vent about about how stressed I am. Maybe I'm a little nostalgic, but I do remember feeling happier overall than I do right now.

I think that it is now my goal to relax, enjoy life, and to find happiness and laughter in my daily life.

That may sound hokey to a lot of people.. but it is something that I am lacking. I am constantly thinking about the next thing, how I will make rent, how I am going to afford to eat, when I will sleep, where I can schedule a shower (yeah, that's right! I need to schedule showers or they don't happen). And it has bogged me down. I don't know if it is the growing amount of sun, or the fact that my show opens tomorrow or the fact that I am unhappy and know that I am the only one with the power to change it, but I feel it. I feel a desire to change who I am.

This is my goal: be happier!
Tim Gunn, best known for the phrase "Make it work" on Project Runway, has been saying some sexist things about Clinton lately. The most recent one was on Conan, where is said that Hillary Clinton "is confused about what her gender is."

There has been a lot of hate and confusion thrown at Gunn from the feminist community. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

To preface, I may be slightly bias towards Gunn for my love of Project Runway and my dislike of Clinton. I really don't like HC. She is far too conservative for me. And maybe I'm just a little paranoid because I'm from MN where Norm Colman ran as a democrat to become mayor of a liberal St. Paul only to switch parties while in office. Maybe I don't like her because HC has a tract record of supporting big business. Maybe it's because I don't want to reach close to my thirties having only known two families running a "democracy". I don't know. But she rubs me the wrong way.. Well, not enough for me to not vote for her if it is HC vs. McCain. Now, HE is just creepy! But I digress.

Back to Gunn. I do think that what he said is pretty sexist and of a mentality suck in heteronormative ideals of what man/woman, masculine/feminine are. And it is very disheartening that someone so prominent (if only because of visibility) continues to propagate ideals of womanhood that have led to the physical and physiological subordination of women throughout time. Corsets, anyone? And for a gay man to questions someone’s gender identity seems slightly strange to me.

But, I really just see it as a catty gay-man's banter. Yes, I'm being slightly stereotypical about the GLBT community, but I have this amazing mental image of Gunn dressed ala Paris Is Burning trash-talking people's fashion. Seriously though, Gunn lives for fashion, and what he thinks is good fashion, and he has said some catty stuff on Project Runway about some of the 'fashion" choices that the designers made. Do you expect him to go on a talk show and have some eloquent critique of HC’s foreign policy ideas? Gunn probably has his own thoughts on the politicians, but he is known for fashion. It is what he is going to talk about. And HC wears what looks like ill-fitting men’s clothing. So, why wouldn’t a prominent figure in the fashion world critique it as looking manly?

But more to the point, when did America start judging their presidential candidates on their fashion and not their values? This is along the lines of what has bothered me this entire political race. Everything seems to be based on the superficial. From the start I have been asked who would I rather vote for, a woman, a black man, or a Hispanic man (back when he was in the race)? And all I could do was look at them blankly. Why would I choose someone to be the commander in chief based on his or her sex or skin color? How about looking at their stances and their track records? Why would I judge someone’s ability to unite two drastically different political parties based on whether or not they can find clothing that suits their body type and style? WHO CARES??

Maybe that’s the problem. People do care about that. HC is seen as not a real woman and not true to her gender and that is what she is judged on most of the time, rather than her political history.

I'm done, I’m moving to Denmark.

I want a pink house

Mitt Romney was on Meet the Press this morning. He was talking about his illegal immigrant policies. they were ridiculous and he did not have any real answers. but, that aside, when asked about the report that he hired illegal immigrants to paint his house he said that there were two fallacies with that report; 1) He did not paint his house pink! he would never have a pink house! and 2) he hired a landscaper who unknowingly hired the illegal immigrants.

WTF? who cares about the color of the house? I only care about the fact that he does not have a workable plan for dealing with immigration into the US and the US's reliance on the exploitation of undocumented workers.

my boss is leaving the Museum. I love my boss, she is/was a large part of why I love my job. I'm happy for her, she's moving to a better paying job and all.

I wonder who they are going to hire. they should hire Jeff... he'd be good at it.
